All of us including CEO Kanematsu and CTO Itagaki have read all of your messages. We are pumped up. Thank you very much.
We will put all our efforts into making a great game that fulfills your hearts with a deep impression and excitement.
Please look forward to it.

Itagaki San,

You are my favorite game designer of all time and one of the main reasons I entered the industry. I was so sad to see you leave Tecmo, and to be gone for so long. I am very happy to see you resurface at your new home, Valhalla! I look forward to your future projects very much!

PS: I still play Ninja Gaiden 2 to this day. You are a genius!

Hey there!

This is just a quick message to let you guys know that I'm really looking forwards to seeing your games. I was a big fan of Team Ninja's work back in the days that Itagaki and co were working for them, and I'm highly interested to see what Valhalla Game Studios have to show the world.

I met Tomonobu Itagaki five years ago at the Tokyo Game Show (I was the European entrant in the Master Ninja Tournament finals) so if you could also let him know that I'm glad to see him returning to games, I'd highly appreciate it. Oh, and that I also took his advice on going to visit Akihabara, too.

So, I'll finish this off by wishing you guys all the best going forward!

Congratulations on the new studio, the new site looks great! I don't know if you remember me, but I wrote an email to you back when you were still with Team Ninja titled "Team Ninja's Biggest Fan!". My Team Ninja tatoo was even quoted in an issue of Famitsu! I just wanted to wish you all the best! I can't wait to see the new game you all are working on. I'll be traveling to Japan later this year with my wife. Maybe I can stop in for a drink and an autograph perhaps? Cheers!
Lastly, here are the pictures I sent in that previous email I was talking about:

Keep up the good work guys!

I just want to say that I'm very happy to see Itagaki is back. I cant wait to see VGS's first project. I like the simple layout of the site. It's like a haiku, you don't need a lot of words to deliver a message.

A question unrelated to the site - Will VGS make cross platform games, or will you primarily stick to Microsoft tools?

Hello there VGS!
I'm a big fan of your work on NG and DOA. I even managed to get my girlfriend into playing NG. At first she called it: "O jogo do odio"(I'm brazilian) in other words "The game of hatred".
Those white ninjas at the begining of the game really shows that the game is not messing around. Since then she started to love your games just like i do. No other game is that satisfying.
Looking foward your next big thing as VGS! It'll be a day 1 buy for me. Please keep updating frequently the website like this!

Your brazilian fan,

I have been an avid fan of your Ninja Gaiden series and have been playing them for quite a while now. I had a question about Ninja Gaiden 2, in general. The obliteration technique system was a genius design; however, some aspects of the game seemed "rushed." All I would say, is that it would be awesome if your next game would use a battle system like the Ninja Gaiden 2 system. Thank you very much for all of the hardwork you have done, and please continue to make the best games. Also, I hope you do get a chance letter, maybe not as information, but as a greeting and thanks.

My name is Donato and Italian.
I am a big fan of the master Itagaki, I wanted to know if in future projects of Valhalla Game Studios there will be some fantastic game like Ninja Gaiden, Dead or Alive, or the magnificent Dead or Alive Extreme Beach Volleyball, there will be some game full of beautiful girls as the masterpiece that gave us the master? a great hope for the development of good games like we have used all these years.
One of your fans who will remain so forever.

April 20, 2010

Hello Valhalla, I have been thinking a lot about what to say to you. As I am one of your biggest fans, when news broke on the evening that Ninja Gaiden II was about to be released that Itagaki-San was going to be leaving Team Ninja and Tecmo, my heart fell to the floor. I was extremely worried about Itagaki-San, the team and the games that you have all been working on for so many years and what was going to happen to them. It's so great to see so many of your key people with you Itagaki-san! I have full confidence that you will all make something that will surpass your pass works, you are all geniuses and you are all the reason that I even got into playing video games, when I first played DOA1 in the arcade it was amazing and then when you showed DOA2 for the first time, it was the most amazing thing I ever saw. And Itagaki-San, never stop being who you are, you are a huge inspiration to me. Thank you for all the wonderful games that you have made over the years and t he new ones that have yet to come.

hi there, first of all,i want to say its great to see this site and everyone who used to create great games i played

I like games and consider it as the best way to interact with something you interested in,even knowledge, experience and life style.

Year by year, time passes by. Getting old is just like an Sin and it means people won't have too much time on a slow-paced game like some "Traditional Japanese Games" again, though they have great story, great 2D design and music but they are really really lack of interactions when you compared them with some western games.

Many gamers I know love the game which players can just sit down and play, then immerse into the world quickly of course.

People play game not game plays people right?

btw, cross talk are really fun :D
Looking forward VGS first game title.
Best wish

Mr. Itagaki,

I'm going to miss your Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden releases but do look forward to whatever you bring next because you and your team always work hard to make sure you release the best games. Nobody else releases such fast, fluid, and exciting games. The first time I played the Xbox 360 versions of your games, DoA4, DoAX2, and NGII, I was amazed at how much they had improved on what were already amazing games. A lot of developers release a sequel(sometimes numerous sequels) that is almost exactly the same as what came before it, but you and your team on the other hand always took what was already great and drastically improved on it, so I am thrilled to see that you are back. I wish you the best.

Hello Valhalla Game Studios, first of I'd like to gratulate everyone for being able to form your new company. I am a long time fan of Itagaki-san and the rest of you that worked in Team Ninja. I am a huge fan of the Ninja Gaiden series and really enjoyed both of them. What I am wondering is if you will support the Playstation 3 with your upcoming games. I personally used to have a Xbox 360 before, but only own a Playstation 3 now. I know that the games Itagaki-san have released have been Xbox exclusive, but I really hope you will strive to make your upcoming games with Valhalla multiplatforms. So don't forget, you guys also have a huge fanbase on the Playstation console!

I wish you good luck with your new company and can't wait to see your upcoming games. I hope you make a similar game to Ninja Gaiden, since that was an excellent series of yours and definately one of the best action games.

Thank you.

I'm a long time Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive fan. After watching the trailer for Devil's Third for the first time, I can't help but feel disappointed. I've been checking every interview for years now, and checking this site since it was founded, and I'm a bit upset that Valhalla Games is going with a shooter for their first game.

I'm not a fan of First Person Shooters, at all. I can play some Third Person Shooters, but I lose interest pretty quickly. This E3 in particular, it seems like virtually every game being released is a shooter. I just can't take it anymore.

I'm not upset that you guys are trying something new, and I wish you the best of luck. I'm going to continue following news on the game, and try it for myself, but I just feel completely disenchanted with the entire video game industry at this point. It feels like 2 years from now, there literally will be nothing to play but shooters, and it will have critical components of the game sold as expensive DLC. The business side of the games industry has never been more apparent, and it's really starting to drive me away from a hobby I've passionately followed for 20 years.

I would have loved to see something along the lines of a 3D Symphony of the Night from you guys. You make the best action games on the planet, but story has always been a little weak, but not bad. If you added in some longer exploration sections, more platforming, and leveling up and experience as you defeat enemies, with a new character and new combat style, I think it would have been perfect. If you want to see what I'm talking about, Nier, from SquareEnix, is a pretty good example.

I just hope you have a long 1 Player mode in Devil's Third, because I am not interested in online multiplayer. Best of luck with your new game.

Hello Itagaki-san:

I just finished watching the new trailer for your upcoming game, and I must say that I am glad you have found a publisher as good as THQ. It was interesting to see the addition of guns, as well as swords. I can't wait to experience a new level of control in your game, and it will be needed because of the intense action displayed on screen. Love the realism of the gore because it always makes the game more satisfying. NGSigma 2 made the horrible mistake of taking this gore out(I know you had nothing to do with this, just a side note!). Soon it will be time to stop play Ninja Gaiden 2 on my Xbox 360, and enter into your new adventure. No matter what the critics say, KEEP punishing us with extreme difficulties in your games, it only works in your games because of the tight gameplay mechanics!!! I always laugh at my brother-in-law for only playing Ninja Gaiden 2 on the acolyte difficulty. Good luck on your ZBR of Devil's Third.

So first, I'm not into shooters at all!!! After I watched the trailer I wasn't really convinced. Though the interviews made clear that Valhalla Games Studios and THQ are taking a different approach to the shooter genre.

Now I'm pretty excited for a shooter for the first time ever!!!

I'm a really big fan of the Ninja Gaiden series (XBOX) and think that Ninja Gaiden Black was a milestone in the action game genre and was second to none.

I'm confident in the entire team that you'll manage to make the game accessible and challenging as well.

So my hopes are high up for this shooter game^^

I wish all the best for the whole team at Valhalla Game Studios.

Greetings from Germany.

First of all, I fully support true Japanese gaming & anything Valhalla creates. With that said, Devil's Third looks great. My only hope is that it doesn't take place entirely in a generic city environment. The more fantasy or sci-fi the better. Please go all out with heavy stylization & strong Japanese art style. I really like extreme Japanese stylish gaming & less western (& I'm a western gamer). Anyways, thank you so much for going independent & doing your own thing. Bless the world with art, style, fantasy/sci-fi, story, & cinematics (all in-engine please), & 60 fps. I love you Valhalla....

Please include an ACTUAL VERY EASY MODE (I play for the experience, not any sort of challenge) in Devil's Third. Please go more fantasy/asian/sci-fi/ (especially in the environments, not just bland generic cityscapes). Please don't go western on us & go all out with the heavy Japanese stylization & art (& I'm a western gamer). 60 fps please. Anyways, I bow to Valhalla as you forge on & keep true Japanese art gaming alive...

Wow, the trailer was great and now i have many question?s on my mind. Like it looks we can play more then one character or there will be co-op option. Well i ave high anticipation for this game and i hope that this will be the best action game of this generation. Efects where awesome and especialy the one from gun shot in the night scene. Im also glad that you keep the close combat with the sword and try to show us another oportunity to play while combining with the fire arms. Only you and your team can achieve the perfect balance betven this two styles.

There is not much to talk about it, the game is only at 5-10 % of his development but so far it looks really interesting, the blending of Meele combat and shooting mechanics could be something "special" if is done by the right team of people, I'm sure that Valhalla Game Studios have what it takes to make the genre evolve.

I wish you luck for the coming months and I'm looking forward to learn more about the game.

as you wanted, I am sending you guys my feelings about your new game. I must say it looks cool and my type of game, shooter but with action, like Lost Planet. Those are my types of shooters.
If I could just ask for one simple thing:

customizable controls. I come from XBOX 360 and play on PS3 now, and I am quite disappointed that most PS3 shooters don't even give you the option to use R2 button as the firing weapon. Please, give us the option of being able to shoot with R2 button.

I hope you make your new game very addictive, with high replay value, customization, etc. Good luck to you all, and hope to hear of more of your games.

Hello All -

I eagerly awaited the annoucement of Valghalla's latest project, even more than anything at the E3 conference.

As usual with all of Mr Itagaki's work, as I watched the trailer, I was left in awe. I am not a big fan of 3rd person shooters at all, yet after watching that trailer I figured if anyone could breath some fresh air into a genre, that in my opinion is saturated and stale, it would be the mind of Tomonobu Itagki and the talent of Valhalla.

I am not even a fan of multi-player games, yet I will purchase this game on day 1 and will hop online. My only request is that you make sure you can play multi-player mode with BOTS when nobody is online, and don't forget us single player gamers!!

Mr Itagaki expressed that some fans might have been looking for a game similar to Dead or Alive or Ninja Gaiden, and I appreciate his concern, but I 100% support the notion of taking on a different beast.

It will be a long 2 year wait....

thank you

Mike (Ninja Gaiden Master Ninja)

Devil's Thirdがプレイできる日を心待ちにしています。

Devil's Third looks amazing! I've been a long time fan of Itagaki's work, and since the inception of your new studio I've been dying for news of a Valhalla project. While I am going to miss the lovingly crafted characters of Ninja Gaiden and the DOA series, the brief glimpse of Devil's Third looks to have a cast with just as much style and Ass-Kicking potential! And from the action shown, it looks like the speed and impact of NG is alive and well. My only hope that this game reaches the depth and challenge found in the first Ninja Gaiden... If anyone can do it, it's you! Thank you guys for continuing to do what you do best, and for breathing some life into the stagnant shooter genre!

Hello VGS

I've been a fan of your games, namely DoA 2 and up along with Ninja Gaiden, Ninja Gaiden Black, and Ninja Gaiden 2. I hope you guys are finally able to get together and fill the void that's been growing in my video game life. Undoubtedly, there are other games, but no game has gotten me to play up to 1000 hours of game play, and still love it.

On a side note, it's a pity I do not have the skills to join your team, or else I would have jumped on any opportunity to do so.

Hello Itagaki-san and Valhalla Game Developers,

First of all I would like to congratulate you all on the new gaming studio. I'm a huge Team Ninja fan and I am looking forward to any projects you guys put out.

I know it is a bit early, but I was wondering if you guys will be adding a forum to this site so that fans can discuss your games? I think it will provide a nice place for feedback on what fans think/like about the game, what they would like to see, as well as any bugs that may have been overseen when your first game releases.

Again, congrats and all the best wishes to your new studio!

I love every game you made。Love you forever!Love your games forever!

Well so far all you've released is the video and it seems to be in a different direction from the other games with a mix of that ninja feel (noting the female character). It's gruesome, but I'm sure it'll stick to your genuine style of fast-paced, intense action. I've followed most of your games and still play a few. I hope that this new game of yours implores different concepts such as online competitive multi-player. Good luck with the game, will continue to follow this studio; I'm hoping it'll expand and you'll bring new innovation and aspects to the genres you've already mastered!

I'll be sure to pre-order this, I have good faith this game will show you've still got it.

I really enjoyed the debut trailer, the music and the gameplay showcased sums it up for me: fun, crazy and good gameplay.

The only thing I can suggest to you as a gamer, after seeing the trailer, is something that i think you already have in mind: that you need a lot of variety in this game.

That's my suggestion because there are a lot of shooters on the shelves, so just shooting is not good enough anymore. But since your trailer showcased wallrunning, climbing, slashing and that sweet bloody style, I guess there's nothing to worry about =).

Greetings to all at Valhalla. I am enthusiastically delighted just from the little bit of info released about Devil's Third. I fully support Valhalla and will be purchasing Devil's Third on release day for any and all platforms. After playing the Ninja Gaiden series I can honestly say that there are very few people in the gaming community that truly understand the importance of having a very tight and effective control scheme, however Mr. Itagaki is one and I sincerely commend him on this.

To all at Valhalla please continue to keep up the great work and I look forward to the completion of Devil's Third. (Also, there is no rush as I am very patient and am impossible to disappoint.)

Thank you all!!

Hello, Mr Tomonubu Itagaki and Valhalla Game Studios.
I saw Devil's Third trailer and i wanted to share my 'feelings'.
I'll start from the characters. Both are well designed and their animation looks smooth and realistic.
Graphics seem great for this third person action game.
And the best of all,a Katana sword always makes my day better and the option to change costumes on the female character(if its possible).

You are the creator of DOA a series that i loved the most for its characters and fun,you are the reason i ever played fighting games.
Seeing your new project its like a dream come true.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read my inquiry.

Warm Regards

Gosh, I can remember the days back on the old DOA2 forum and sending ideas for that game. Anyways, enough of that. I've been waiting for Itagaki-san and company to come back with something spectacular. I'm totally pumped for this game!

You guys told me you wanted my input so whether it's true or not I'm going to give it. The game looks awesome! Not a ton of info has come out in time, and to be honest I looked over it at E3. I trust it will be play well, but the characters and moves are just so much more over-the-top than most new IPs right now. Looking forward to it.
